Jake’s Birthday is back , and we couldn’t be more excited.
For the first time since 2019, before COVID changed the world and put our celebration on pause, we are bringing back this beloved Marsh’s Free Museum tradition in a big way. After years away, Jake the Alligator Man is finally getting the birthday bash he deserves, and you are invited.
The celebration begins on Friday, September 25th, with an adults-only Burlesque Show, featuring themed performances, theatrical flair, and Jake-inspired mischief and will continue through the entire month of October with The Haunted Peninsula.
Burlesque Show:
Step into an unforgettable evening of mystery, laughter, and entertainment at Jake & the Case of the Missing Bride, an interactive burlesque murder mystery unlike anything you've experienced before. Enjoy a world-class dinner prepared by B&D's Food Hut, bid on incredible artwork by talented local artists and unique donations from Peninsula businesses during our silent auction, and raise a glass at our open bar. Throughout the night, you'll even have the chance to participate in the show as you help unravel the mystery of Jake's missing bride. Best of all, a portion of the proceeds will benefit Peninsula Poverty Response, helping neighbors in need while you enjoy an unforgettable night of fun. Haunted Peninsula
Since 2019, Jake the Alligatorman's wife has been missing. This October, she's back... and she's haunting the Long Beach Peninsula. Welcome to The Haunted Peninsula, a brand-new month-long Halloween celebration where local businesses, homes, and haunted attractions come together to transform the Peninsula into one unforgettable spooky destination. Throughout October, you'll discover eerie displays, creepy surprises, and plenty of Halloween fun, with Marsh's Free Museum serving as the center of the mystery. If you love Halloween, this is the perfect excuse to plan a trip to the beach.
Talent Show & Costume Contest
On October 30th the community gathers for a new tradition, to calm the restless spirit of Jake's missing bride. Legend has it that because she was originally chosen to become Jake's wife through a talent show, the only way to honor her memory, and keep her spirit at peace until the following Halloween, is with another celebration of talent and creativity. Visitors are invited to dress in their best Halloween costumes, take the stage, and become part of the story as we celebrate with a Costume Contest and Talent Show. It's a fun, family-friendly evening filled with music, performances, laughter, and a little bit of Halloween magic
Think your decorations can stop people in their tracks?
Enter our Haunted Peninsula competitions for Best Decorated Business, Best Decorated Residence, or Best Haunted House and compete for bragging rights and prizes. Then join us on Halloween night at Morehead Park in Ocean Park as the story reaches its chilling conclusion with the official burial of Jake's wife. Will her spirit finally find peace... or is this only the beginning? Come experience the mystery, explore the haunted Peninsula, and become part of a new Halloween tradition.

Jake’s Birthday is a celebration of creativity, tradition, and community spirit. In keeping with that spirit, Marsh’s Free Museum is proud to give back.
A percentage of the proceeds from this year’s Jake’s Birthday event will be donated to Peninsula Poverty Response, a local nonprofit organization serving families across the Peninsula. Peninsula Poverty Response works to help individuals and families move from crisis to stability by providing support, resources, and pathways toward long-term security.
By attending Jake’s Birthday, purchasing tickets, and participating in the festivities, you are not only supporting a beloved local tradition, you are also helping make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors.

History of
Jake's Birthday
Each year the town of Long Beach WA celebrated the birthday of their most unusual native son... Jake The Alligator Man. Jake, who is a resident of the world famous Marsh's Free Museum is known far and wide as the finest Alligator-man to ever crawl upon the shores of Washington.
During his annual birthday celebration, local residents chose a local maiden to become Jake's bride through a talent show. They also held a car show which attracted some of the most amazing custom cars and hot rods in the US.
Beginning this year, we're expanding the celebration with an exciting new October tradition: The Haunted Peninsula. Since Jake's beloved bride mysteriously disappeared in 2019, strange stories have spread across the Peninsula. Now, each October, it's said that her restless spirit returns, wandering the coast in search of Jake. Businesses and residents will transform the Peninsula with incredible Halloween displays, haunted houses, and eerie decorations as they compete for awards for the Best Decorated Business, Best Decorated Residence, and Best Haunted House. The month-long celebration will culminate on Halloween night at Morehead Park in Ocean Park, where the community will gather for the official celebration of life for Jake's missing bride, a spooky finale to a hauntingly unforgettable tradition.
